Our clock making journey begins right here, with you. Once you've begun to imagine the perfect space and selected your desired clock size, we can set in motion the magic.
Each and every one of our copper clocks is made 100% by hand in our Perth workshop. We cut, shape and sand each clock with care. We then strike the clock, twelve times to mark the hour. After this, your clock is then ready for patination.
What is a patina you say?
A copper patina - or copper patination, is the metals natural defence against the elements. As we expose copper to certain temperatures and chemicals, the copper will develop a layer of colourful oxidation to protect itself. In this instance, that defence layer will be blue.
Each piece that we create at Empire Copper is achieved using a forced patination on copper. Because of this, every piece that we create is unique in its own way.
This process guarantees that you will own a one of a kind piece, that nobody else in the world has!
After the patination process has been completed, we then use a clear lacquer to seal the patina and protect the colour from further aging. Then, we attach a silent, quartz clock movement. Finally, over a 24 hour period we test your clock to ensure that it is in full working order before it is packaged up and sent directly to your home.
THE EXACT COLOUR AND PATTERN SHOWN IS INDICATIVE.
EACH OF OUR PIECES VARY, AS IS THE NATURE OF THIS ART.
